Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC) is a versatile, non-ionic cellulose-derived polymer used widely in cosmetic and personal care formulations. It functions as a thickener, emulsifier, film-former, and stabilizer, helping improve texture, consistency, and shelf life. HPMC forms a smooth, protective layer on skin and hair, enhancing hydration and reducing moisture loss.

It appears as a white to off-white powder or granule, soluble in cold water but insoluble in organic solvents. Ideal for creams, gels, lotions, shampoos, and serums.

Recommended Use Rate
Creams & lotions: 0.2–2%

Gels & serums: 0.5–2%

Hair care (shampoos, conditioners): 0.3–1%

Cleansers & masks: 0.5–1.5%

Hydrate in cold water and allow time for full dispersion. Avoid clumping by sprinkling slowly or pre-blending with glycerin.
